At the Ordinary meeting of Upper Lachlan Shire Council held 21 May 2026, Council resolved to place on public exhibition the amended DRAFT Upper Lachlan Housing Strategy and DRAFT Upper Lachlan Development Control Plan. This document is being exhibited following amendments made post the original submission period.

Amended Draft Upper Lachlan Housing Strategy – What is a Housing Strategy?
A Housing Strategy enables Upper Lachlan Shire Council to plan effectively for new and future housing growth having regard to current data, trends and characteristics of the local housing market. It provides both a long-term vision and a practical framework for how the Council will guide, manage and improve housing within the Local Government Area.
Amended Draft Upper Lachlan Development Control Plan – What is a Development Control Plan?
A Development Control Plan is to be read in conjunction with the Upper Lachlan Local Environmental Plan and any relevant State Environmental Planning Policies. It provides detailed development standards and design guidelines to be used when preparing and assessing Development Application for new development within the local government area.
A hard copy version can be viewed at Upper Lachlan Shire Council Crookwell office, 44 Spring Street, Crookwell or Gunning office, 123 Yass Street, Gunning, during normal business hours. Digital copies can be downloaded from Council’s website www.upperlachlan.nsw.gov.au
How to make a submission
- Public submissions will need to be received in writing to Council during the public exhibition period.
- The submission period will close at 5.00pm on Wednesday 26 August 2026.
- All submissions must be addressed to the Chief Executive Officer.
