Upper Lachlan Shire Council is pleased to announce construction of a new bus shelter and supporting infrastructure at the Bannister Lane and Range Road bus stop is underway. The upgrade will see improved safety, accessibility and comfort for local students and public transport users.
The project valued at $20,000 is being delivered under the Country Passenger Transport Infrastructure Grants Scheme 2025/26, with works scheduled the completed by August 2026.
The upgrade will include the installation of a concrete plinth and modern bus shelter, along with a recently completed 30 metre by 6 metre gravel bus pull-over area (gravel-Pad), allowing buses to safely pull off the road while passengers board and disembark. The new install also sees wheelchair accessibility and a safer shelter adjoining the pad protecting the children waiting for the bus.
CEO Alex Waldron said the improvements respond directly to community feedback and will provide a safer and more accessible transport hub for the region.

The Bannister Lane and Range Road intersection is a vital pickup and drop-off point for students travelling to schools in Crookwell and Goulburn. It also serves as a meeting point for multiple bus services, meaning many families travel considerable distances to access the stop.
The upgraded facility is expected to increase community confidence in using public transport by providing a safer, more comfortable waiting area while improving accessibility for people with disability or limited mobility, as well as parents with prams.
The project supports Council’s ongoing commitment to improving transport infrastructure across the shire and encouraging greater use of regional public transport services.
Motorists are advised that minor traffic disruptions may occur while works are underway. Council thanks the community for its patience and cooperation during construction.
