Residents using the Bigga Waste Transfer Station will soon have greater flexibility when disposing of household waste with Council able to accept additional waste from those who do not hold a Rural Waste Card.
The change will bring Bigga into line with the service available at other Upper Lachlan Shire waste facilities, where residents without a Rural Waste Card can dispose of household rubbish and other chargeable waste by paying the applicable Council fee.
The Bigga Waste Transfer Station will be able to accept household rubbish, items that would normally go into a red-lid household bin, as well as mattresses, with charges applying in accordance with Council’s adopted Fees and Charges.
Residents who pay the Rural Waste Charge and hold a valid Rural Waste Card will continue to have free access for eligible domestic waste. The addition to this service will commence from Sunday 6 September 2026.
The expansion will provide a more convenient local disposal option for the Bigga community while maintaining a consistent user-pays approach across Council’s waste facilities.
Council’s waste facilities already accept a range of recyclable materials, while mattresses are accepted at Crookwell, Gunning, Collector and Taralga with applicable charges.
Council encourages residents to dispose of waste responsibly and to check the applicable fees and accepted materials before visiting the facility.
