Upper Lachlan Shire Council held its second community outreach session in Gunning on Tuesday, 21 October 2025, bringing together residents to discuss important community matters.
More than 30 Gunning residents attended the session and actively participated in discussions. The Development Control Plan and Housing Strategy emerged as key interests, prompting many questions and thoughtful conversations about future growth across Gunning and the surrounding villages.
Throughout the evening, residents shared a wide range of ideas and feedback. Many community members emphasized the importance of preserving Gunning’s unique rural character, while others highlighted the need for infrastructure improvements, affordable housing, and sustainable development practices.
Council urges all community members to review the Draft Upper Lachlan Housing Strategy and Draft Upper Lachlan Development Control Plan, now on public exhibition. Collective input helps shape the growth and long-term vision for all villages in Upper Lachlan Shire.
Hard copies are available at the Council’s Crookwell office (44 Spring Street, Crookwell) and Gunning office (123 Yass Street, Gunning) during business hours. Digital copies can be downloaded from the Council’s website until Monday, 24 November 2025.
Residents are encouraged to review each document and submit feedback via email or by delivering written submissions to Council offices. All input will be reviewed and considered as Council finalises these important strategies. Council again invites all community members to join the conversation and help shape the Shire’s future.
Council thanks all attendees for their valuable input and strongly encourages participation in the upcoming two weeks of community engagement sessions. These events are designed to be informative, featuring Council presentations, discussions on local issues, and opportunities for community feedback.
The next community outreach meeting will be held at Bigga Memorial Hall on Tuesday, 28 October 2025, at 6:00 pm. Council invites all residents, ratepayers, and interested individuals to attend, learn more about the draft strategies, share their perspectives, and connect with Council representatives and fellow community members. Seize this opportunity to have your voice heard and help shape the future of Upper Lachlan Shire.
