King Road, Crookwell – Drainage and Footpath Improvements

28-01-2026

Council is pleased to provide the community with an update on the recent King Road, Crookwell drainage, kerb and footpath Improvements that have been occurring during the school holiday period.

In the final months of 2025 all design works, management plans and delivery of materials were completed to enable the smooth commencement of this project.

Acting CEO, Andrew Croke said “Council’s outdoor crews have been working towards completing the King Road drainage and footpath works. Council’s infrastructure team undertook earthworks prior to the school term recommencing in 2026 to reduce impact/interruptions. Whilst weather is always a factor in construction project timeframes it is pleasing that these works are estimated for completion by mid-February 2026”

The project commenced on 5 January 2026 with Council crew and contractors beginning with bulk earthworks (removal of batter) with the aid of machine control GPS and relocation of a small section of footpath. After bulk earthworks were complete crews were able to complete installation of additional stormwater drainage pits and pipes down King Road and upgrade of stormwater line crossing King Road.

Further works include installation of a retaining wall along King Road. The retaining wall will take approximately two weeks, with over 200 blocks being installed. Once complete there will be other maintenance works including the pouring of a kerb and the install of a pedestrian fence along the footpath.

These works will see long awaited improvements to this frequently used area by the community and school students. Council appreciates the community ongoing patience and recognises the assistance from both the Crookwell High School and local bus services with the current traffic control arrangements that are in place.

It is anticipated that all works will be completed in February 2026.
