Upper Lachlan Shire Council has been made aware that a small number of residents in Crookwell may have filled their green waste bins prior to receiving notification of Council’s recent decision to temporarily pause kerbside green waste collections.
To support these residents, Council will undertake a one-off green waste collection in Crookwell only on Friday, 1 May 2026.
Residents are requested to place their green waste bins containing grass clipping, leaves and small pruning’s only out on the kerb the evening prior (Thursday 30 April), noting that collections may commence early. Please note the weight limit of bins is 100kg, overloaded bins will not be collected.
This collection will conclude the green waste service, which has been temporarily suspended as part of Council’s broader efforts to conserve fuel reserves. This proactive measure is aimed at ensuring sufficient diesel supply is maintained for the delivery of critical services, including water, sewer, waste collection and essential road maintenance, should availability become constrained.
Council appreciates the community’s understanding and cooperation as it continues to prioritise essential service delivery during this period of uncertainty.
