Upper Lachlan Shire Council has been recognised as a finalist in the prestigious NSW Local Government Excellence Awards, highlighting the organisation’s commitment to innovation, community outcomes, and operational excellence.
Council was initially nominated across three categories, with two initiatives progressing through to finalist status for “Got Your Back” Proactive Injury Management Program Category: People, Workplace, Wellbeing (population under 100,000), and Roving Art Show & Arts Culture & Heritage Trail Category: Festivals and Community Events (population under 50,000)
In addition, Council’s Curraweela Bridge Upgrade Project: Connecting Communities Safely was recognised through the nomination process in the Assets and Infrastructure category.
The NSW Local Government Excellence Awards celebrate outstanding achievements across the sector, recognising councils that demonstrate leadership, creativity, and a strong commitment to their communities.
Upper Lachlan Shire Council Chief Executive Officer, Alex Waldron, said being named a finalist for the NSW Local Government Excellence Awards for third year running is a significant achievement for Council and reflects the ongoing dedication, creativity and innovation of Council staff and community.
The success of our local initiatives highlight the strength of our community when we all work together to achieve a common goal. I would like to thank the volunteers, Southern Tablelands Arts and Mandy McDonald, Council staff, and local artists for their collaboration as well as those who attended the events.
The “Got your Back” initiative is a proactive injury management program aimed at improving the health and wellbeing of our staff and is a step forward for Council in providing wrap around support for our injured workers.”
Council are proud to share this news with the community, the commitment of Council staff and the strong partnerships with the community have helped make these initiatives successful.
Winners and Highly Commended recipients will be announced at the Local Government Awards Dinner in June. Council congratulates all staff and partners involved in these projects and acknowledges the significant role they play in delivering positive outcomes for the Upper Lachlan community.
