Upper Lachlan Shire Council is pleased to announce the completion of significant upgrades to the Willis Reserve Off-Leash Dog Park, creating a safer, more accessible and welcoming space for residents and their four-legged companions.
The revitalised facility now includes three secure off-leash enclosures, new shelters and lighting, providing greater opportunities for dogs to exercise and socialise while creating a comfortable community space for their owners.
The installation of lighting has been made possible through the generous support of the Veolia Mulwaree Trust, ensuring the facility can be safely enjoyed, particularly during the shorter daylight hours of winter.
The project has also been significantly enhanced through funding from the NSW Government’s Stronger Country Communities Fund Round 4, which has supported the delivery of two new shelters, secure perimeter fencing and separate enclosed areas catering for small dogs, large dogs, and training and enrichment activities.
Upper Lachlan Shire Council Chief Executive Officer Alex Waldron said the completed upgrades had transformed the dog park into a more functional and inclusive recreational space for the community.

Council acknowledges the generous support of the Veolia Mulwaree Trust and the NSW Government through the Stronger Country Communities Fund, whose investment has helped deliver lasting benefits for local residents and pet owners.
Council also recognises the valuable contribution of the Crookwell and District Ladies Dog Club, whose ongoing advocacy, support and collaboration have played an important role in securing funding and helping bring the project to fruition.
To ensure Willis Reserve Off-Leash Dog Park remains a safe and enjoyable facility for everyone, Council asks all users to be considerate of others and comply with the rules of the Park.
Dog owners are reminded to:
- pick up after their dog, with a bin and dog waste bags provided;
- keep dogs on a leash until they are safely inside an off-leash enclosure;
- ensure dogs do not display aggressive behaviour; and
- ensure their dog is microchipped and registered as required.
Failure to comply with relevant requirements may result in enforcement action, including fines issued by Council Rangers.

The completion of these works is another important milestone for Willis Reserve, with Council continuing to progressively improve the facility. Future projects are planned to include a gravel car park, additional seating, water taps for each enclosure, tree planting and landscaping.
