A Grand Opening for a Grand Piano

19-10-2022

A refurbished Gunning Court House will be relaunched as “The Courtroom: Gunning’s home of Chamber Music” on Sunday 6 November with a concert that will showcase the venue’s new Grand Piano.

Thanks largely to a Create NSW grant secured by Upper Lachlan Council, the new piano will join other improvements including new lighting, seating, disability ramp and stairs that will ensure a better performance venue with greater accessibility.

The Concert will feature two performers with local connections. Arnan Wiesel is an international pianist based in Yass and Katrina Rivera is a professional musician raised in Crookwell. Between them, they have created a bespoke program to showcase this excellent new piano in this wonderful performing space that has been described as an ideal performance space to provide chamber music at its best.

This of course won’t be the first concert performed in this space. It has been in regular use as a performance venue in recent years and the very first concert there was in January 1886.

For this Grand Opening, you can enjoy works by Beethoven, Gershwin, Mozart, Schubert, Bizet, Dvorak and more.

Tickets are available for adults ($40), concessions ($30) and members ($20) with free entry for youths aged Under 18, For bookings: use the link at https://www.trybooking.com/CDHVI, contact 0429 906 834 or email gunningfocusgroup@gmail.com.
