Binda Reserve will shortly have a new septic tank system installed thanks to State Government funding.
Member for Goulburn Wendy Tuckerman has announced the NSW Government will deliver $703,218 funding to improve Crown land reserves and community facilities across the Goulburn electorate.
Mrs Tuckerman said the funding is being provided by the NSW Government under its Crown Reserves Improvement Fund program and will be a great asset to the community.
“Crown reserves provide land for recreation, community organisations and facilities, and protect our environment including habitat for native plants and animals,” Mrs Tuckerman said.
“I know how important each of these assets are to the region which is why I have secured $703,218 across 15 projects.
“Maintaining and enhancing our Crown reserves means residents have access to quality spaces for sports and fitness, or to just relax, rejuvenate and get in touch with nature and each other.”
The following projects have been funded under the Crown Reserves Improvement Fund.
- Moss Vale Showground will receive $242,312 for replacement of the flooring and sub-floor structures in the main hall.
- Bowning Recreation Ground will receive $155,000 to demolish the two existing amenities blocks to construct a new, combined amenities block.
- Victoria Park in Goulburn will receive $131,861 towards construction of amenities block, perimeter fencing and accessible pathways at Victoria Park.
- Victoria Park in Yass will receive $50,000 towards pre-planning work for new amenities building and other proposed upgrades
- Gundaroo Common will receive $4,400 towards weed control
- Moss Vale Recreation Ground Reserve will receive $28,490 towards control of Blackberry and Serrated Tussock
- Binda Reserve will see a septic tank system to the value of $18,920
There will also be weed control initiatives across the following areas
- $58,500 for Lake George will receive
- $3,000 will go towards control of St Johns Wort at Vacant Land Opposite Gilbert Grave
- $3,000 will go towards control of Blackberry at Yass Cemetery
- $1,500 will go towards control of Blackberry at Joe O’Connor Park
- $2,250 will go towards control of weeds at Kangiara Cemetery
- $2,250 will go towards control of Blackberry, Scotch Thistle and Variegated Thistle at Old Yass Tip
- $1,735 will go towards control of weeds at Alison Hone Reserve
Minister for Lands and Water Kevin Anderson said Crown reserves play an important role in business, tourism, recreation, well-being and the biodiversity of the state which is why the NSW Government is delivering this funding.
“Crown land covers around 34 million hectares or 42 per cent of NSW and we have about 35,000 Crown reserves that accommodate parks, community halls, nature areas, showgrounds, sporting facilities, camping areas and walking tracks,” Mr Anderson said.
“They also provide support to community groups like Men’s Sheds, Police Citizens Youth Clubs, Surf Life Saving clubs Scouts and Girl Guides. These groups all do amazing work which is why it is so important the NSW Government continues to support them.
“These projects funded by the NSW Government will benefit many thousands of people and contribute to the cultural, sporting and recreational life of hundreds of communities with the potential to provide stimulus to local economies and create jobs.”
