Ordinary Meetings of Council will now start at 1.30pm following a resolution of Council at the 17 February 2022 Meeting.
The meetings will still be held on the third Thursday of each month, but the starting time has been changed to assist ease of attendance.
General Manager Colleen Worthy said that the flexibility in meeting times was very helpful in accommodating Councillors and staff.
“Various times were put forward and discussed at the meeting but the consensus supported the 1.30pm,” Mrs Worthy said.
“Starting at 1.30pm means Councillors can still complete half a day’s activities before attending the meeting. And even if the meeting runs to three hours, as they sometimes do, Councillors and staff won’t be driving home in the dark.”
Mrs Worthy said that meeting times can be changed at any Council Ordinary Meeting if there was a perceived need for change, but added that it is unlikely to be altered too often to avoid confusion.
