Crookwell’s Christmas Street Festival: A Day of Fun, Festivities, and Community Spirit
The Crookwell Christmas Street Festival is set to light up our charming town on December 14, 2024, thanks to a generous $150,000 grant from the NSW Government’s Open Streets Program. This funding will allow us to temporarily close the main street to vehicles, creating a safe and festive atmosphere for all.
This year’s festival promises to be the biggest and most exciting yet, featuring a fantastic line up of activities and entertainment for all ages. With a focus on community spirit, we aim to enhance local visitation and boost sales for our businesses.
Festival Highlights:
Enjoy a variety of performances, including Mariah K, a comedic rendition of “12 Days of Christmas” by the Crookwell Amateur Drama Society, the energetic band Lumpy Underdacks, rising country star Jordi Wells, and the talented crew from Sugar and Spice.
Meet Santa and Mrs. Claus and capture festive family moments in Santa’s Grotto.
Witness the unveiling of a new street art installation by renowned artist Carl Valerious, designed to attract visitors and provide fantastic photo opportunities, along with the new vibrant mural.
Keep the little ones entertained with face painting, a rock climbing wall, and inflatables.
Savour delicious offerings from food vans and local businesses, while browsing unique goods at local market stalls.
Experience the warm, inviting atmosphere of a true country Christmas celebration.
Chief Executive Officer Alex Waldron expressed her heartfelt thanks to the NSW Government for their support through the Open Streets program, which has helped make this event bigger and better. “Their contribution allows us to bring our community together and celebrate the festive season in a way that highlights the best of Crookwell,” she said.
Minister for Roads, Arts, Music and the Night-Time Economy, Jobs and Tourism John Graham said:
“We’re excited to support this event in Crookwell.
“Too often our main streets are something we drive through, rather than drive to. Our streets are a critical part of our public and social infrastructure. Great streets make great towns and centres and reflect the local community and culture.
“The Open Streets program is about temporarily transforming our main streets into vibrant and welcoming public event spaces.
“The colour and diversity of these 130 events celebrates the unique personality of each town or suburb. This is what our vibrancy agenda is all about, backing locals to create events and entertainment that works for their local community.”
Join us on December 14 for a day filled with holiday cheer, entertainment, and community togetherness. The festival kicks off at 1:00 PM and continues until 9:00 PM. Everyone is welcome to partake in this wonderful celebration!
