Upper Lachlan Shire Council is seeking expressions of interest from community members to join the Upper Lachlan Shire Council Australia Day Committee.
Council’s Australia Day Committee is made up of a diverse range of residents/ ratepayers within the Upper Lachlan Shire. The selected committee meet once a year to assess all nominations for the Australia Day Awards in partnership with Upper Lachlan Shire Councillors.
The committee work closely with Council to promote and encourage nominations of local talent in the region.
To register interest please make a submission addressed to the General Manager in writing and include the following information:
- Full name
- Contact email and phone number
- Residential address
- Reason(s) why you would be appropriate to join the committee, any experience you have with committees
- Acceptance that you have read and understood the functions of the committee
Note: All existing members of the Australia Day Committee are required to reapply with an expression of interest.
Functions of the Committee: The Australia Day Committee will be responsible for the co-ordination of the official Australia Day celebrations across the Upper Lachlan Shire. Subject to the Australia Day Guidelines the Committee‘s responsibilities in respect of this event are as follows:-
- The Committee will provide recommendations to Council on the annual Australia Day Awards and Sportsperson of the Year Awards.
- The Council will be responsible for: organising the Ambassador; any administrative assistance (Executive Assistant) to the Committee; and be responsible for funding as per the Operational Plan for the current year.
NB: You must be a resident or ratepayer of the Upper Lachlan Shire Council
