Flood Disaster Assistance now available for Upper Lachlan

INFORMATION SUPPLIED BY NATIONAL RECOVERY AND RESILIENCE AGENCY

A range of Disaster Assistance is now available for residents and property owners in the Upper Lachlan Shire impacted by severe storms and flooding from 27 June 2022.

The Australian Government Disaster Recovery Payment

This payment was made available from Thursday 7 July and provides one-off financial assistance to eligible people affected by the floods in New South Wales. The rate of the payment is $1000 per eligible adult and $400 per eligible child. 

The eligible LGAs for Australian Government payments may be different to NSW Government payments.

The Australian Government Disaster Recovery Payments are available to the following 23 LGAs: Bayside, Blacktown, Blue Mountains, Camden, Canterbury Bankstown, Campbelltown, Central Coast, Cessnock, Dungog, Fairfield, Georges River, Hawkesbury, Hornsby, Kiama, Lake Macquarie, Lithgow, Liverpool, Maitland, Northern Beaches, Penrith, Shellharbour, Shoalhaven, Singleton. Sutherland, The Hills, Upper Lachlan, Wingecarribee, Wollondilly and Wollongong.

You may be eligible for the Australian Government Disaster Recovery Payment if:

  • You are an Australian resident or hold an eligible visa
  • Equivalent payments are also available to eligible New Zealand non-protected Special Category Visa (Subclass 444) holders.
  • You meet Local Government Area requirements
  • You were seriously affected by the floods

You may be seriously affected by the floods if:

  • You have been seriously injured
  • You have lost your home or it has been directly damaged
  • Your major assets have been directly damaged
  • You are the immediate family member of a person who has died as a direct result of the floods.

Disaster Recovery Allowance

The allowance provides up to 13 weeks of income support payments to employees and sole traders who can demonstrate they have experienced a loss of income as a direct result of the floods. You may be eligible if:

  • You were 16 or older at the time of the natural disaster event
  • You are an Australian resident or hold an eligible visa
    • Equivalent payments are also available to eligible New Zealand non-protected Special Category Visa (Subclass 444) holders.
  • You work/derive an income from or live in an affected Local Government Area
  • You lost income as a direct result of the natural disaster event
  • You earn less than the average Australian weekly income in the weeks after you had this income loss.

Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements

Jointly funded Commonwealth-State Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements (DRFA) are available to the following 37 LGAs: Bayside, Blacktown, Blue Mountains, Camden, Canterbury Bankstown, Campbelltown, Central Coast, Cessnock, Cumberland, Dungog, Fairfield, Georges River, Hawkesbury, Hornsby, Kiama, Lake Macquarie, Lithgow, Liverpool, Maitland, Mid Coast, Muswellbrook, Nambucca, Newcastle, Northern Beaches, Penrith, Port Stephens, Randwick, Shellharbour, Shoalhaven, Singleton, Sutherland, The Hills, Upper Lachlan, Warren, Wingecarribee, Wollondilly and Wollongong.

Immediate assistance is available to impacted New South Wales residents and you may be able to claim more than one payment if you meet the respective criteria. Assistance for Individuals
This includes support for immediate essential needs (food, clothing, medical supplies or temporary accommodation), essential services, essential household contents replacement and repair, and structural repairs or replacement. Learn more on the Service NSW website.

Concessional Interest Rate Loans

Sport and Recreation Recovery Grants
