Free household waste disposal for Clean Up Australia Day 2022

02-03-2022

To coincide with Clean Up Australia Day on Sunday 6 March 2022, Council is offering Upper Lachlan residents, free disposal of household goods at its Waste Management Centres between 10.00am and 4.00pm.

Waste accepted at no charge will be:

  • domestic waste
  • furniture
  • E-Waste (televisions, computers, printers, electricals etc.)
  • recyclables
  • garden organics

Items of interest will not be stockpiled for people to scavenge. No items are to be left on site for people to remove.

Please be aware that the following items will not be accepted:

  • chemicals, paints, pesticides, poisons, cooking oil, liquids, smoke detectors, gas bottles and fire extinguishers
  • tyres
  • asbestos

Due to the costs associated with recycling mattresses, Council will charge the scheduled fee of $41 per mattress on the day.

The Taralga and Collector centres are only able to accept small household waste.  Large items, such as furniture, must be taken to either the Gunning or Crookwell facilities.

Residents are reminded that the following items can be taken to most of the Shire’s Waste Management Centres, free of charge, throughout the year.

These include:

  • Scrap metal – fridges, freezers, washing machines, iron, wire, wrecked cars
  • Engine and hydraulic oil
  • Car and truck batteries
  • Plastic, glass, cardboard, paper
  • Grass clippings, leaves and small prunings

Printer cartridges and mobile phones can be taken to any Council office or participating Australia Post outlets to be recycled, free of charge.
