Free testing kits available in the Shire

04-04-2023

Council was recently contacted by Chief Health Officer and Deputy Secretary Dr Kerry Chant with an opportunity to access free Rapid Antigen test (RAT) kits from NSW Health to hand out to the community.

As COVID-19 continues to circulate cases are expected to start increasing again as the Easter holidays and cooler months approach. Council felt it was important to be able to offer these testing kits to further protect the community.

Acting General Manager Alex Waldron said that while mandatory testing is no longer required, ongoing access to COVID-19 testing is important so that the community can access timely treatments such as antiviral medicines if they are eligible, and continue to stay well.”

Council ordered 800 RAT kits and has distributed these across Council venues in the Shire for community members to access these locations include;

  • Crookwell Council Office
  • Crookwell Library
  • Crookwell Visitor Information Centre
  • Gunning Council Office
  • Gunning Library
  • Taralga Community Service Centre

Council hopes to help the community stay well and reduce the spread of COVID in the region. Should members of the community need access to these FREE RAT kits please do not hesitate to call Council on 02 4830 1000 to determine your best collection point.
