Gunning Recovery Centre assistance to residents

10-11-2022

Around 30 residents of Gunning and surrounding areas took advantage of the Recovery Centre set up at Gunning Shire Hall on Thursday 10 November 2022.

Teams from Australia Red Cross, Service NSW, Salvation Army, Resilience NSW, Legal Aid, NSW Public Works, Rural Financial Counselling Service and Upper Lachlan Shire Council answered queries, recorded details for follow up and provided information regarding available assistance and next steps to take as they recover from the storm event of Monday 31 October.

Council General Manager Colleen Worthy said the event was well-received by those who attended.

“We had representatives from nearly all of the businesses affected by flooding in the main street attend,” Ms Worthy said.

“Many visited each table, gaining a bit more information from each service about what was available to them.

“For those that spoke to Council, some very constructive comments were made and we’ll take away and implement some of those learning points.

“Council will continue working to get businesses open and residents back in their homes. You can ring or visit the Council office in Gunning between 10 and 4, Monday to Friday, if you have any other concerns or require any other information regarding effects of the storm event.”
