HOLIDAY FUN AT OUR LIBRARY

16-01-2025

Our libraries have been very busy during these school holidays, both inside our branches and in the community.

At Crookwell Library, we held a special cactus pot painting workshop; however, there was no need to fear that these cactuses would die – they’re made from rocks! Fifteen children gathered in the Library and carefully painted their cactus pots in a rainbow of beautiful colours, then selected the stones as their cactuses. Once painted in various greens, children used white and black paint to represent the cactus spines. The result was super effective, and the kids were excited to take their pots home to display.

Library staff also made a special visit to Collector Memorial Hall to teach local children how to use Lego robotics and a unique solar space exploration robot that the kids christened ‘Jerry-Jeff’. The kids put the robot through its paces, following a track, avoiding obstacles, and staying within a compound before creating their courses and taking Jerry-Jeff off-road! Finally, the kids used Lego robotics to solve potential space exploration challenges, such as exploring a dark cave.

At Gunning Library, 11 children came together to paint squishy keychains. These adorable foam keychains were turned into works of art with various paints, markers, and sequins.
The Library and our Summer Reading Club will continue to offer excellent school holiday activities; stay up to date and become a Library member today: https://tinyurl.com/3h28mfem
