In concerts, they have a soundcheck to see how the audio is coming across before a concert.
Last night (Wednesday 13 April 2022), a lighting check in preparation for Light Up Crookwell showed Goulburn Street, Crookwell in such gorgeous hues and tones that it was decided to launch Light Up Crookwell a night earlier than planned.
General Manager Colleen Worthy described the lighting as mesmerising.
“You’ll see the main street of Crookwell in a whole new light as our streetscape and historic buildings are brought to life in this spectacular light show presented by Upper Lachlan Shire Council,” she said.
“The people doing this are the same people that put together Vivid in Sydney among many other events, and it is a spectacle of moving colours and patterns.
The light show will take place in Crookwell Main Street between the Spring Street and Roberts St Intersections, now officially starting from Holy Thursday, 14 April, 2022 between 6pm and 11pm, and continuing each night until and including Easter Monday on both Friday and Monday nights, assembling at Get Creative at 7pm..
Deputy Mayor, Cr Mandy McDonald, who promises to be equally colourful as the lights in the main street, will be taking a guided tour of Crookwell’s beautiful historic buildings under lights
And that is just one element of a vast array of activities across the Shire this Easter.
Kicking off on Good Friday with a Binda Experience, Walk with the Cross from Binda Shops to St James Church. Everyone will have a chance to carry the Cross if they choose. A simple service at the Church will follow. Then stay for loaves and fishes (fish burgers) and a cup of tea. Be involved with the Easter Good Friday celebration commencing Friday, 15 April at 11:00am.
On Easter Saturday, an Easter Market Trail will include Markets at Bigga, Laggan and Tuena on Easter Saturday, with details for each on the Visit Upper Lachlan website.
Following that, Easter in the Park will get underway at Memorial Oval in Crookwell, consisting of food stalls, live music, roving performers and interactive circus acts, Easter arts and crafts, egg and spoon races, Bunny hop races, and Easter egg hunt, and a fire and light show. And then, capping off the day, there’ll be an outdoor screening of the movie Peter Rabbit at Memorial Oval (weather permitting) from 7pm. In the event of rain, the park event will move indoors to the memorial hall.
And then on Easter Monday, in one of the Shire’s most unique and delightful annual events, the Jerrawa Show – the only agricultural Show in NSW permitted to run against the Royal Easter Show – is back on deck after some COVID closures in recent times.

Mrs Worthy praised Council’s Manager of Economic Development & Tourism, Christiane Cocum and her team located at the Shires’ Visitor Information Centre at Crookwell, who have led this event.
“I was also delighted to see the council working as a united team with other departments joining in to make the event successful, so let’s light up for Easter,” she said.
“Council staff have done such a great job over a short space of time. It’s a packed Easter weekend with so much variety that people can pick and choose the bits that suit them, or they can do the lot, and have a fantastic time.”
