CANCELLED – LIVINGWORKS – SAFETalk session- 19 June 2024

17-06-2024

Each year, more than 730,000 people take their own lives, according to the World Health Organisation.  Behind each number is a person, and every suicide is a tragedy that impacts families, communities, workplaces, school and organisations.

Council have been given the opportunity to host the LivingWorks team to roll out their LivingWorks SafeTALK and Start program.

The program is designed to learn the skills of how to identify someone with thoughts of suicide, ask them about their thoughts, and provide them with tools to seek further assistance.

CEO Alex Waldron said “Council are passionate about protecting mental health by providing access to tools that will provide ongoing help and assistance to our staff and community. Council staff will undertake key training which has been made possible through the NSW Government’s Mental Health Recovery Package and I’m pleased to say a further session will be provided to our community”

The SafeTALK program has unfortunately been cancelled to all members of the public on Wednesday 19 June at the Emily Chalker Memorial Oval Room on Robertson Street in Crookwell. This session will run from 9:00amuntil 1:00pm and is  suitable anyone in the community, including teachers, parents, construction, professional services, health and social services, retail and hospitality.
