New radio segment on RAM FM to begin this week

25-07-2022

From this Thursday, the Mayor and Deputy Mayor of Upper Lachlan Shire will begin a weekly radio segment on RAM FM 103.3 in Goulburn.

The Mayor and Deputy Mayor had previously rotated a segment on GNFM radio and Deputy Mayor Cr Mandy McDonald said they had received a lot of feedback from people missing their appearances.

“We’ve heard from many of you that have missed hearing Mayor Pam Kensit and myself on GNFM radio,” she said.

“With the station moving from AM to FM other programming changes occurred as well. Well, the good news is that we have found a new home with RAM FM, community radio, Goulburn.”

The Goulburn Community Radio Association Inc was formed in 1987 with the call sign 2GCR FM. It was the first FM station in Goulburn and, as a locally community-owned radio station, services Goulburn and surrounding districts.

The station relies on sponsorship and grant funding to remain on-air and a recent grant from Veolia Mulwaree Trust has allowed the station to purchase new Outside Broadcasting equipment.

On January 1st 2019 the station launched a new identity. Now called RAM FM 103.3, the station’s identity is aligned with Goulburn’s famous icon of the giant merino ram.

“The radio station is wholly operated by community volunteers broadcasting from premises beside the bowling green at Goulburn Railway Bowling Club,” the Deputy Mayor said.

“Their shows even feature some presenters from the Shire, and from this week, will feature a few more people from the Upper Lachlan.”
