Council wishes to inform that the Kennedy Street Overhead fill point has been temporarily repaired. Please note that it is now functioning; however, it will be taken offline once the necessary components for a full repair have been sourced.
The Kennedy Street Standpipe was damaged between 28th – 29th of January 2025. Barriers are now in place while Council devises a plan to repair it and procure new components.
It appears that someone used the standpipe to fill their truck or tank and drove off with a hose caught up in it. This action pulled on the overhead pipe, broke the bracing welds, and damaged the pipework.
Please note that this is not the first incident at this location. However, the extent of the damage this time will not be easily repaired and will take some time to address.
Council understands that the standpipe is frequently used, especially during hot, dry weather. As an alternative, community members can use Binda Bore, located on Binda Road in Binda, which is 20 km from Crookwell.
Council apologises for the inconvenience and is working diligently to ensure this issue is resolved as quickly as possible. Council kindly asks everyone to exercise care and caution when using these free amenities.
