It was a fantastic weekend for everyone at the 146th annual Crookwell Show. This year’s event spanned two exciting days, with Mayor Paul Culhane, Council CEO Alex Waldron, and hundreds of community members attending.
Activities kicked off at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday. Saturday featured sports shearing, wool handling, and the Outback Jack Stockman Show, among other things.
On Sunday, the excitement continued with the popular woodchop competition and a BBQ fundraiser for the local primary school, where CEO Alex Waldron showcased her grilling skills.
CEO Alex Waldron commended the event, “It is great to see our community enjoying these events. It takes a lot of work to run these shows successfully, and we must acknowledge the invaluable efforts of the volunteers who made it all possible.”
Highlights from the event included the shearing competition, in which local participant Jamie Boothman triumphed in the open category. All categories were well-contested, with a vast number of local residents winning across various categories.
The Kids’ Pet Competition also showcased a variety of furry friends, including dogs, goats, guinea pigs, and even a rabbit.
On Sunday, the Kevin ‘Dusty Coves’ Award for the Supreme Livestock Exhibit for 2025 was presented, allowing attendees to admire an impressive array of animals from our Shire and beyond. Local musicians Charlkie White and Harriet Lowe entertained the crowds on Saturday, while various family activities filled two entire days. With smiles all around, it was another excellent community event for the whole family to enjoy.
