Five Upper Lachlan Shire schools will benefit from improvements to their school zones thanks to State Government funding.
The Goulburn electorate will receive more than $6,980,000 for vital work to improve safety in school zones as part of the $40.8 million School Zone Infrastructure Sub Program.
Member for Goulburn Wendy Tuckerman said the School Zone Infrastructure Sub Program is helping keep school children in the region even safer as they travel to and from school by delivering improvements key improvements to schools around the electorate.
“The Australian and NSW Governments are committed to helping to improve safety around our schools, the projects in the Goulburn electorate are creating safer pedestrian connections for children, their parents and carers, and the school community,” Mrs Tuckerman said.
“Funding for more than 500 infrastructure projects has been approved to be delivered across 350 schools in regional NSW.
“These schools will benefit from safety treatments such as footpaths, bus zones, flashing lights, wombat crossings and more.
Federal Member for Hume Angus Taylor said these projects would significantly improve safety as well as renewing local infrastructure at schools.
“These upgrades will improve infrastructure for school pedestrians and provide better traffic management in our school zones, ultimately saving lives and supporting jobs on the ground,” Mr Taylor said.

- Collector Public School – bus drop off/ pick up Zone, line marking, raised pedestrian ‘wombat’ crossing
- Crookwell Public School – raised pedestrian ‘wombat’ crossing
- St Mary’s Catholic School – raised pedestrian ‘wombat’ crossing, lighting upgrades.
- Gunning Public School – Improve bus pick up / drop off zone, signage and various line marking, installation of raised pedestrian ‘wombat’ crossing.
- Taralga Public School – signage, line marking, crossing, flashing lights, car park bays, speed zone 40km/h pavement patches
- Gundaroo Public School – install pedestrian refuge, car park upgrades, shared pathway, kiss and drop zone, disabled car park
- Mt Carmel Public School – upgrade crossing
- Yass Primary School – upgrades to bus stop, installation of safety barrier, safety upgrades to pedestrian and traffic flows within the school carpark
- Berinba Public School – shared pathway between Moreton Ave and Church St, pedestrian crossing point at intersection,
- Boorowa Central School – reconstruct kerb, new signage, line marking.
- St. Josephs Catholic Primary School – reconstruct kerb and centre refuge, new signage, line marking.
- Mulwarree High School – construct 3km of shared path to Marys Mount
- Wollondilly Public School – pedestrian refuge and blisters to facilitate safe crossing at desire line.
- Goulburn High School – wombat crossing, pedestrian refuge.
- Goulburn West Public School & St Peter and Paul Primary School – construct 1250m of footpath to schools to residential areas.
- Bradfordville Public School & One School Global – Construction of 3081m of footpath network to provide safe access from residential areas
- Goulburn South and Trinity College – shared path along the eastern side of Hume Street to replace pop up cycleway
- Goulburn South Public School – raised pedestrian ‘wombat’ crossing.
- Moss Vale Public School – install ‘wombat’ raised pedestrian crossing.
Minister for Regional Transport and Roads Sam Farraway said more than $40 million will be invested in over 500 projects across more than 350 schools in regional areas.
“Every child in NSW has the right to get to and from school safely,” Mr Farraway said.
“The rollout of the School Zone Infrastructure Sub Program in regional NSW will help pedestrians, school children, cyclists and motorists share the roads safely.
“We have worked with the local councils to identify a list of suitable projects to deliver the greatest safety benefit across regional NSW.”
Projects in metropolitan areas will be funded on a 50/50 basis, while regional projects will be split 80/20.
These projects are funded under the Australian Government’s $3 billion Road Safety Program, which supports the fast roll-out of life-saving safety works on Australia’s roads.
