Upper Lachlan Shire Council was set to begin slope stability works on Wombeyan Caves Road from September 2022 to December 2022. The NSW National Parks and Wildlife recently advised Council that they were successful in gaining grant funding for upgrade works at the caves.
In order to reduce the risk associated with carrying out the slope stability works at the same time as construction and traffic travelling up and down Wombeyan Caves Road, Council has postponed the slope stability works until after completion of the caves upgrade works.
Due to safety aspects Council will close Wombeyan Caves Road to the public on 7 October 2022 from Langs Road to Victoria Arch Drive, at the caves. Access will only be allowed for construction traffic and for local residents. The road will be re-opened after the slope stability works are completed, which is scheduled for the third quarter of 2023.
