Works on Kentgrove Road and Laggan Road completed

17-11-2022

With a brief respite in the rain, Council has been able to complete several scheduled works in the Shire.

Council has rehabilitated Kentgrove Road from a gravel road to a sealed road.

Works started in June 2022 including gravelling and drainage works. Wet weather during that period held up the project at different times and works were finished on 14 July 2022.

Sealing of the road was also delayed but began on 12 October 2022 and have now been completed.

Another completed project was the heavy patching on Laggan Road between MacArthurs Rd and Cummins Road.

These two patches were very difficult and costly to complete as there were a lot of underground water and rock issues to contend with.

Works started 27 July 2022 and finished 7 September 2022, with sealing completed 12 October 2022.

“Wet weather and the repair of damaged roads has impacted significantly on our road works schedule, but we continue to work through it,” Director of Infrastructure, Leon Kruger said.

“The consistent wet weather which saturates the ground is far from ideal for road building and maintenance, but we cannot delay addressing the massive backlog in defects until perfect conditions eventuates.”
