Upper Lachlan Shire Library Service is inviting the community to discover everything their local library has to offer during Open Doors, Open Books, Open Minds on Thursday 30 July 2026
As part of a statewide initiative led by the NSW Public Libraries Association, libraries across New South Wales will be welcoming visitors to explore the many services, programs and opportunities available through their local public library.
At Upper Lachlan Shire Libraries, visitors can enjoy:
- Scavenger hunts to win a ‘book worm’ prize
- Decorate your own library bag
- Learn more about your local librarians on the Library’s Facebook and Instagram pages
- Take a selfie with our giant library card
- Every new member on the day will receive a special gift
Library Manager Susan said Open Doors was a wonderful opportunity to showcase the important role libraries play in the community.
“Many people know libraries for books, but today’s public libraries offer so much more. Open Doors is a chance for everyone to discover the programs, technology, collections, spaces and friendly staff that make our library such an important part of the community.”
Council is proud to support the initiative.
“Our libraries are one of our community’s most valued public spaces. Open Doors is a fantastic opportunity for residents to experience everything it has to offer and celebrate the contribution it makes to learning, wellbeing and community connection.”
Visitors might be surprised to discover that the library also offers:
- eBooks, eAudiobooks and digital resources
- Streaming video and music services
- Technology assistance
- DVDs and magazines
- Jigsaw puzzles
Everyone is welcome to attend, whether they are regular library members or visiting for the first time.
