Help us name the newest member of the Merino family!

Recently, renowned sculptor Carl Valerius unveiled an amazing art installation on the main street of Crookwell. This fabulous piece of public art was made possible after the Upper Lachlan Shire Council successfully secured funding from The Open Streets Program part of the NSW Government’s Vibrant Streets Package.

The sculpture embodies the true heritage of our Shire and highlights the deep connection our community has with the wool industry and Merino sheep.

The Ram’s head was cast in bronze, and has been permanently installed on Goulburn Street. A bespoke granite plinth was created using Grenfell granite, adding a sense of grandeur to the installation.

While this masterpiece has found its forever home, it has yet to receive a name, and this is where we need your help. We invite the entire community to contribute suggestions for naming this magnificent artwork. We have received hundreds of entries and are giving you one last chance to have your say.  Drop your vote into the box located at the Crookwell Visitor Information Centre by 4.00pm Friday 28 February 2025.

If you haven’t had the chance to see the masterpiece in person, now is the perfect opportunity to do so. Who knows, the perfect name might just come to ewe.
