Did you know Upper Lachlan Shire Council operates six waste management facilities across the Shire?
Council’s waste sites are acknowledged as some of the cleanest in the state, regularly receiving positive feedback from the community—particularly for the DrumMUSTER program.
Gunning local resident and regular visitor to the tip, Leigh Mitchell, was recently invited to share his experience on a Sunday afternoon.
Leigh Mitchell expressed his gratitude, saying, “I have lived in the area for many years and have witnessed many changes, including the introduction of DrumMUSTER—a valuable service for farmers like myself.”
DrumMUSTER is a national product stewardship program dedicated to collecting and recycling eligible, empty, and clean agricultural and veterinary (AgVet) chemical containers. Established to promote environmental sustainability, DrumMUSTER provides a safe, cost-effective, and responsible recycling solution—benefiting chemical users, the environment, industry, and the wider community.
To date, Upper Lachlan Shire Council has recycled roughly over 4000 containers in the last 12 months, transforming them into useful products such as wheelie bins, road signs, fence posts, bollards, and new chemical drums. This reliable recycling pathway reduces waste and supports the responsible management of agricultural and veterinary chemicals across Australia.
If you need to safely dispose of empty chemical drums, both Gunning and Crookwell tip are part of the DrumMUSTER program. Farms with more than 1,500 eligible empty drums, collection can be arranged directly with DrumMuster for a convenient pickup from your property.
