Over the weekend, the launch of the Collector Community Plan took place on the main stage, attended by several Upper Lachlan Shire Councillors, including Mayor Paul Culhane, as well as the Hon. Michael McCormack MP and various other speakers.
The event focused on the Collector Community Plan, providing attendees with an opportunity to celebrate this initiative developed by and for the community, utilising local knowledge and collective input.
During the event, Mayor Culhane discussed his recent meeting with several State politicians, particularly Paul Scully, the Minister for Planning and Public Spaces in New South Wales. He remarked, “Minister Scully has a significant focus on development approval performance statistics. While this is a measurable aspect, I, along with several other mayors, reminded him of the importance of strategic planning.”
“The Collector Community Association, in partnership with Ratch, has invested considerable time in meaningful community consultations to develop a comprehensive plan for the Collector village,” Mayor Culhane continued. “This plan will now be presented to funding partners to outline the district’s needs with full community support clearly.”
Mayor Culhane emphasised that the Upper Lachlan Shire Council recognises Collector as a significant opportunity for growth and is committed to supporting the implementation of the plan. He also highlighted the importance of thoughtful growth, ensuring the preservation of the rural amenities and community character that residents value in Collector.
He reiterated the need for developments within the Upper Lachlan Shire while pursuing infrastructure upgrades that support growth and maintain the unique identity of our Shire’s villages.
Upper Lachlan Shire Council congratulates the Collector community on this plan. Council looks forward to ongoing development across the Shire that better supports the growing community.
