Road repairs continue across the Shire

08-12-2022

With a recent respite from unrelenting rainy days, Upper Lachlan Shire Council has been hard at work repairing damaged roads across the Shire.

Council General Manager Colleen Worthy said that, while the rainy days had been limiting repairs in many cases to temporary fixes, a recent run of good weather has enabled Council to perform more permanent repairs.

“I know the potholes and the state of our roads are a cause of concern and frustration to our residents and ratepayers,” Ms Worthy said.

“And I share those concerns. But we are now starting to get a little clear weather and able to provide some more permanent fixes.

“I know that it’s frustrating for people living in areas that still need major repairs, but we only have so many work crew staff, and if they aren’t working in your area, they are working somewhere else you may be unaware of.”

Ms Worthy described Pudman Creek Road as an example of some of the work done by Council work crews that goes largely unnoticed.

“Pudman Creek Road runs between Blakney Creek Rd and Dalton Road and many in the Shire probably “After the storm events, one whole side of the road had fallen away but one of our crews quickly made it passable.”

The repair work on Pudman Creek Road started on 10 November and was completed by 15 November.

It involved the use of a 20 tonne excavator, a back hoe and a tip truck and a four person work crew. The eroded area was filled with uncrushed gravel.

“Again, this is just one example of much of the work our crews are doing which goes largely unseen, and I commend them for their tireless work in difficult conditions” Ms Worthy said.
