It has been a long year and a tough year, but at last, ‘tis the season to be jolly!
It’s that time of the year when we finalise plans for Christmas get-togethers with family and other loved ones, often including big meals and a few presents.
And since this time of year often coincides with spending a bit of money, Council General Manager Colleen Worthy suggests that we consider doing our spending locally, with a Shire Shopping Spree to focus attention on local businesses and reward some local shoppers.
“We’ve said this the last few years, but local businesses have again had a tough 12 months,” she said.
“Shopping locally filters through the whole community, and this year to aid that we have a great Shire Shopping Spree competition that doesn’t just focus attention on local businesses but will also reward some local shoppers.”
The Shire Shopping Spree, which started on Monday 28 November, encourages shoppers to spend a minimum of $20 at any participating business to go into a draw to win one of three amazing prizes.
First Prize is a whopping $3000. Second prize is $500 and third price is $300.
The competition ends at COB 22 December and will be drawn at 6pm on 24 December at the Criterion Hotel Crookwell.
“This is a wonderful competition and I truly wish to thank all of the participating businesses that have come on board,” said Mrs Worthy.
“It will not only generate sales bit also a bit of fun, and will result in some people shopping locally winning some very handy money at this time of year.
“You can improve your chances by having multiple entries in the draw. It’s always a good idea to shop locally and this competition will just make that even better.”
