Upper Lachlan Shire Council collects over 4,200 tons of waste each year, along with an equal amount of co-mingled recycling. Community members can drop off steel for free at the Council’s waste management facilities. Mattress disposal starts at $51 for residents, while green waste is charged at $20 per cubic meter for single-axle vehicles. In addition, the Council collects more than 700 tons of organic waste.

The total of 4,200 tons of waste results from over 20,000 visits to all waste disposal sites and includes the collection of an impressive 180,230 bins annually. This figure does not account for the 10,290 free street bin services provided.

For Council’s waste truck drivers to be successful in collecting your bins, residents must use bins correctly. To ensure your bins are collected, please follow these guidelines:

1. **Weight Limit**: Bins must not exceed the allowable weight limit:

   – Less than 80 kg for a 120 L bin

   – Less than 100 kg for a 240 L bin

2. **Overfilling**: Bins must not be overfilled; the lid should completely shut.

3. **Placement**: Place your bins out the night before your collection day.

4. **Spacing**: Ensure your bins are spaced at least 30 cm apart, with the wheels facing your property. Cars, trees, or power poles should not obstruct bins.

Remember!

Your bin may be at capacity even though it doesn’t look full. Your bin should be reasonably easy to move to the kerb for collection.

Otherwise, it’s too heavy!

Preventing Contamination in Your Bin

If contamination is found in the bin, it may not be collected for disposal. If contaminated material is emptied into the truck, the entire load could be rejected for processing, and it may end up in the landfill, likely incurring additional costs for the Council.

If you have any questions regarding your bin collection, please contact Council for information.
