Upper Lachlan Shire Libraries – Events for all

20-08-2025

Upper Lachlan Shire Library had the honour of hosting representatives from the Department of Health, Disability, and Ageing last week. The event drew a large audience of community members, reflecting strong interest in the topic and the value placed on accessible information about health and aged care services.

The free session offered Upper Lachlan residents the opportunity to engage in open discussions with experts about Aged Care. Attendees learned about the full spectrum of support available, including in-home assistance, community-based resources, and the range of residential aged care services. Participants were able to ask questions and share their thoughts, making it a valuable session for both individuals seeking support for themselves and those caring for loved ones.

The session was highly informative, providing attendees with up-to-date insights into the latest changes in residential aged care funding, as well as important information about the rights of aged care recipients. Presenters also highlighted various programs and strategies to help older adults remain in their own homes for as long as possible, empowering residents with practical knowledge to make informed decisions regarding their care and wellbeing.

Council would like to extend its gratitude to the NSW/ACT Local Network for their efforts in coordinating and hosting the session, engagement such as this ensures that residents have access to important information, resources, and guidance regarding health and aged care matters.

For those who were unable to attend the event, a range of helpful resources and informational brochures are available at Council libraries. Library staff are also available to aid and help community members access further information or contact with relevant resources.
