Regional Development Australia team visits Upper Lachlan

Mayor Pam Kensit, General Manager Colleen Worthy and Councillor Susan Reynolds met with members of Regional Development Australia (Southern Inland) on Wednesday 5 October to discuss a program being rolled out by RDASI designed to assist Councils in the Southern Inland Region.

Regional Development Australia Southern Inland (RDASI) is a conduit to bring jobs, investment and innovation in Southern Inland NSW. Their mission is to be a connection point for anyone looking to be a part of the growth, prosperity and liveability of the region.

The RDASI region encompasses 44,639 square kilometres of NSW, taking in seven local government areas in the south-east of NSW including Hilltops, Upper Lachlan, Goulburn-Mulwaree, Queanbeyan-Palerang, Snowy Monaro, Wingecarribee and Yass Valley.

The aim of the meeting with Carisa Wells (CEO and Director of Regional Development) Melissa Jones (Workforce Development and Projects Officer) and Suzie Presswell (Events and Communications Officer) was to talk through the Workforce Development – Grow Your Own program being rolled out by RDASI.

RDASI is aiming to connect with work for development, education and training sectors across the region and collaborating with local industries and business people. A central part of the program being rolled out is will be a new jobs platform via their website that will assist local businesses and job seekers looking for work in the Southern Inland region.

Council’s General Manager Colleen Worthy described RDA Southern Inland is a committed advocate for our region.

“This meeting was informative regarding the plans they are looking to roll out over the next 12-18 months,” she said.

“It is a positive step for our community and we look forward to continuing the partnership.”
