ULSC Staff take part in Skin checks

14-04-2026

Recently skin checks were conducted across Upper Lachlan Shire Council for Shire employees, emphasising the importance of workplace health to ensure the ongoing success of our Shire.

The initiative was organised as part of Council’s proactive approach to employee wellbeing, recognising that early detection and prevention are essential in reducing the risk of skin cancer.

CEO Alex Waldron said “With over 95 employees from various departments participating in the checks, this demonstrated Council ongoing commitment to personal health and safety for our staff. Given the prevalence of skin cancer and ongoing education this is an important reminder for our teams to look after their skin.”

Experts recommend annual professional skin checks and monthly at-home examinations to detect early signs and symptoms. Early intervention can significantly improve health outcomes. All employees who attended were encouraged to be vigilant about changes in their skin and to seek medical advice if they noticed any abnormalities.

Upper Lachlan Shire Council prides itself on being an employer of choice. The Council’s ongoing investment in staff health and wellbeing is a key factor in attracting and retaining talented professionals.
